[Update: Tumblr Responds] Tumblr’s Double Standards. #fucktumblr

This is my email exchange with Tumblr staff asking about the Tumblr blog manan.tumblr.com that has one random “hey – my daz are lovely” post, dated June 27 (God knows what year). Today someone who owned pitchfork.tumblr.com was rick-rolled by Tumblr and he was told that since pitchfork.tumblr.com was dormant it was transferred to another client, in this case a company. Gee how thoughtful Tumblr.

While I totally understand it’s Tumblr’s prerogative to kill accounts, transfer accounts, this is highly unprofessional since it was done without any intimation to the owner of the domain.

So, fuck you Tumblr. kthxbai

Update: I sent Tumblr a follow-up mail asking them about their double standards and the response pointed out a “trademark claim” as the reason.

Fucking lame!

That URL you are referencing was released because of a trademark claim. As I understand it, you have not made a trademark claim. So, that is why the URL you requested was not released.

Yeah, if you’re on Posterous, Tumblr’s not worth your time anyway. I’ve been following this whole story on gawker and it’s quite appalling.
